How to set up Track app (iOS) with the correct communications settings to find coolers when you visit their installation location.
When you are setting up permissions for Track app for the first time, or adjusting later, it's important to enable Location, Bluetooth and Notification permissions in your phone so you can connect to AoFrio hardware during site visits to confirm your cooler location and upload data.
Bluetooth permissions for iOS
- iOS14 - If you are using iOS 14 on your phone, you will receive a request to access your device's Bluetooth function. This is to allow the software to detect and connect with AoFrio SCS Controllers in nearby coolers. We recommend that you tap OK to enable this functionality. If you choose to tap Don't allow, you will need to open the app each time you wish to find and connect to a cooler and will also need to enable Bluetooth for the time you are connected.
- iOS 13 or below - Access to Bluetooth is permitted by default so you shouldn't need to make adjustments when visiting a site and trying to locate your cooler (or the AoFrio hardware inside). If you prefer to disable this setting, tap Settings in the main menu of Track app and update the Bluetooth settings.
Notification permissions for iOS
- iOS 14 or earlier - Track app will ask to send notifications to your phone with a message titled "SCS Connect Track would like to send you notifications". These notifications let you know if:
- there is a successful connection
- all data has been successfully collected from connected AoFrio hardware
We recommend that you tap Allow. If you choose Don't allow, you won't receive notifications.
Location settings
When you set up an iOS device with Track app for the first time, you will normally be prompted several days after initial installation with a message that asks, "Do you want to continue to allow background location use?" (See picture on right)
We recommend that you tap Always Allow to enable the quickest connection and data upload to your cooler fleet when visiting their locations.
If you tap Change to only while using, you will only be able to find and connect to your cooler then upload data if you open the app at that site and enable your phone to use location settings.
If you prefer to disable this setting, tap Settings in the main menu of Track app and update the Location settings.
NOTE: When you see the Location prompt, you will also see a map with dots indicating where you have been recently. Even though this may seem that Track app is storing your location, this is not the case. Locations on the map are not used or stored by the app. The only location data used and stored by Track app is the location of any AoFrio hardware it has recently scanned.
