Top 10 quick-start checklist for Hardware Installers
Use this checklist when installing AoFrio Gateways, Controllers, or Sensors in a cooler. It helps you complete a clean, first-time-right installation and avoid return visits.
A successful installation means: correct position, clean wiring, strong connectivity and verified data in the platform.
1. Confirm the installation scope
Before starting:
-
Check what hardware needs to be installed (Gateway, Controller, Sensors)
-
Confirm the cooler type and location
-
Review any site-specific requirements
2. Check you have all required hardware
"Over 35% of field service dispatches roll without checking parts availability first."
Service Power whitepaper, 2025
Ensure you have:
-
Correct device(s)
-
Mounting hardware (brackets, screws, rails)
-
Power supply and cables
-
Sensors and probes
3. Inspect the cooler before installing
To prevent poor placement and rework, look for:
-
Safe mounting surfaces
-
Available power source
-
Cable routing paths
-
Obstructions (fans, evaporators, shelving)
4. Choose the correct mounting position
Correct positioning directly affects data accuracy and connectivity. Follow AoFrio's hardware installation guidelines:
-
Use **optimum mounting positions** (e.g. near evaporator or airflow path for sensors)
-
Avoid high moisture, direct water exposure, or heat sources
-
Keep antennas clear of metal obstructions
5. Mount hardware securely
Devices should not shift when touched or when the cooler is relocated.
-
Fix devices to a stable surface
-
Ensure no movement or vibration
-
Route cables neatly and secure them
6. Complete wiring correctly
-
Connect power according to specifications
-
Attach sensors and probes securely
-
Follow wiring diagrams exactly
As incorrect wiring can damage hardware, check:
-
No loose connections
-
No exposed wires
-
Correct voltage applied
7. Power on the device check status
-
Turn on the device
-
Confirm LED indicators show normal behavior
If not:
-
Check power supply
-
Recheck wiring
-
Confirm device compatibility
8. Pair and connect devices
-
Pair sensors to gateway
-
Confirm gateway connectivity (cellular or network)
-
Register device in the iQ platform or Field app if required
Tip: Stay within range during pairing to prevent failures.
9. Verify data is flowing
Before leaving site, confirm:
-
Device appears in AoFrio platform
-
Temperature or status data is updating
-
Signal strength is acceptable
-
No active alerts
10. Complete handover and record the install
-
Record device IDs and locations
-
Take photos if required
-
Confirm system is operational with site contact
-
Report completion
Stop and troubleshoot if:
-
Device does not power on
-
Pairing fails repeatedly
-
Device does not appear in the platform
-
Signal strength is weak or unstable
