Optimise your cooler's power use with Standby Modes for timers and counters

You can set Standby Modes with a SCS Controller to intelligently reduce your cooler’s power use. Find out more in this article about the specific parameters for timers and counters.

Maximum Standby Time (Sbt)
This is the maximum time permissible for the system to remain in standby without any detected activity. Pulldowns are started to ensure that the product in the cabinet reaches the Transition 3 Set Point (tS3) within Maximum Standby Time (Sbt) hours from the last detected activity.

Pulldown Time (Pdt)
The maximum time after leaving Standby Mode that it will take for the product in the cabinet to reach either:

  • Operational Set Point (SP), OR
  • Transition 3 Set Point (tS3) if it is used,
This parameter is used to determine when the Pulldown should commence to ensure that the product is at the correct temperature when the store opens at the start of the day.

Inactivity Wait Time - Standby Hold (yth)
The time the system will remain in standby with no activity before transitioning back to Transition 3 Mode.

Note: Pulldown time will be overridden to zero, as the product will remain at temperature.

  • If yth is equal to 0, the system will instantly return to Normal Mode
  • If yth is greater than 0 and the yth time is reached without an activity then:
    • If T3 is greater than 0, the system will return to Transition 3 Mode.
    • If T3 is equal to 0, the system will return to Normal Mode.
    • If yth is equal to inf (infinite), the system will remain indefinitely in standby until an activity is seen.

You can clear high and low temp alarm codes (display temperature) from the display by holding the left and right button keys on the SCS Controller for 5secs. The alarm symbol always shows the actual alarm state.

Time Of Day Standby (tdS)

Select this mode to switch from the default "activity-based" standby (eg door openings) to a "time-of-day"(eg 10pm to 6am).

  • 0 = Activity-based standby mode
  • 1 = Time-of-day-standby - The controller switches between normal mode and standby mode depending on time.

Time-of-day-standby can only be used if the internal clock is synced to the real-time via phone connection through Field or Track app. If the SCS Controller is powered off for more than 3-days, this syncing with the phone timer will be lost, and the controller reverts to the default activity-based standby mode until it is resynced automatically when next connected to by a phone.
