Retrofit solutions for existing coolers

AoFrio offers retrofit solutions that enable OEM and cold drink brand managers to upgrade their existing coolers — regardless of their manufacture date or brand — so they can track and optimize the asset as well as adding remote monitoring through the AoFrio cloud platform.

What is a retrofit solution?
Retrofit means adding or replacing hardware in your current coolers to enable connectivity and smart control features.

AoFrio offers two main retrofit approaches:

  • Additional hardware, eg. Install a monitoring device (Monitor) or connectivity module (Gateway) alongside the existing controller.

  • Hardware replacement, eg. Swap out existing cooler hardware with an SCS 800 controller with built-in connectivity or a new ECR 2 fan pack.

Both options are designed for quick field installation with minimal disruption to operations.

Retrofitting your fleet with connected hardware and software can deliver the following benefits:

  • Track location: Know where each cooler is deployed.

  • Monitor performance: View temperature, door openings, and compressor cycles in real time.

  • Plan maintenance: Use up-to-date data to identify service needs and reduce downtime.

  • Extend asset life: Keep existing coolers in service longer by adding capabilities including as responsive lighting and temperature control, connected alarms based on cooler behavior.

  • Reduce costs: Lower maintenance and energy expenses through expanded parameter control and detailed insights.

  • Improve visibility: Centralize fleet management and make data-driven decisions.

  • Support compliance: Maintain correct product temperatures and meet energy efficiency standards.

What are the main steps to retrofitting a fleet?

  1. Assessment: Identify cooler models and select the appropriate retrofit solutions eg. replacement or additional hardware, key outcomes such as asset tracking, power saving, commercial performance.

  2. Installation: Technicians install the hardware or replace the controller on-site.

  3. Connection: Each cooler is registered in the AoFrio cloud platform for remote monitoring and regular data capture.

  4. Integration: Data from retrofitted coolers flows into your existing dashboards and reporting tools.
