Where to start? Verifying data flow from your assets to the cloud
This article explains how to verify that data from your coolers and connected devices is flowing correctly to the AoFrio cloud. It outlines what to check when commissioning new equipment, visiting assets in the field, or validating factory builds, and provides practical guidance on expected upload timing and troubleshooting steps if data does not appear as expected.
Step 1 - Choose your software
Either use:
Field App - If you are setting up a cooler for the first time, or if you are visiting an existing cooler in the field, you can use Field App to:
-
- Check your refrigerator status on the Field app home screen
-
- Check the cooler event log with Field app
- Check the status of cooler components with Field app
- Diagnose cooler issues by comparing statistics with Field app
- Check power use for a cooler
If you see this data in Field app, it will upload to the cloud from your mobile device when it is next connected to the internet. See: How long does it take to upload data to the Cloud from an AoFrio SCS controller?
OR
Report App - to check data has been uploaded to Report app by a cloud-connected device, such as a Gateway or Network Pro, or by AoFrio’s Track or Field apps when they have connected to an asset via Bluetooth, you can:
-
- View Gateway and Network Pro statuses in your fleet
- View your fleet on customized maps
- View energy consumption for your cooler fleet
- Create, view, and update service requests
OR
iQ Platform – to check data is uploading from the cloud-connected devices installed within your fleet, or by connection to AoFrio’s Track or Field apps when they have connected to an asset via Bluetooth, here are three things you can check in your dashboards:
-
- Temperature readings are updating in real-time
- Compressor activity and power use data is visible
- Event logs are being populated with cooler activity
Step 2 – Once connected allow time for data upload
On location with an asset or cooler:
- This depends on your setup and the hardware involved.
- If the device has been operational for a period, then it is relatively quick to check asset connection is active and sending data as outlined above. Find out more about Connecting the Gateway to AoFrio software
- If the pairing is new, please allow 1 hour after powering up the cooler for the first time before proceeding. In this situation we recommend using Field and Report app, as well as looking at the LEDs on the Gateway or Network Pro to confirm everything is working as expected. At the factory with a new build cooler:
- Data from a brand-new cooler does not upload immediately as it takes some time for the SCS Controller to have enough data to be sent for the first time. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a day. We recommend using Field and Report app, as well as looking at the LEDs on the Gateway or Network Pro to confirm everything is working as expected.
If all goes well, you will see data in either Report app or the iQ platform and will not need to go to step 3.
Step 3 – Troubleshoot connection if data is not appearing
If data is not showing up in the software after you have waited the appropriate time, here the steps we recommend:
- Check your internet connection on your mobile device.
- Verify the Gateway or Network Pro LEDs to confirm it is powered on and operating.
- Restart Field app or Report app and try to connect to the asset again.
- Ensure the Gateway has a clear cellular signal (LTE-M or 2G). See Troubleshooting cellular connectivity for IoT devices.
- Contact AoFrio support if the issue.
