Top 10: quick-start checklist for installing an SCS 600 and Gateway into a cooler

Before you start

Stop at any stage and troubleshoot if: 

• The Controller or Gateway does not power on. Check isolation, supply voltage and wiring before continuing.

• Pairing fails or the firmware is not supported. Confirm the SCS 600 has firmware 4020 or later, repeat pairing, then restart the Gateway.

• The Gateway cannot connect or upload data. Check its position, cellular signal and distance from the Controller.

• The cooler does not appear in AoFrio software. Do not leave until pairing, address details and data upload have been checked. 

1.  Confirm the installation scope

Confirm the cooler model, owner, Asset ID, install address and site requirements. For one shared refrigerated cabinet, use one SCS 600, one Gateway and one Asset ID.  

2. Check parts, tools and access

Have the SCS 600, Gateway, correct probes and wiring harness, mounting hardware, parameter file and Field app access ready before starting.  Full detail: Enable a role in your organization to use Field app 

3. Inspect the cooler and plan the layout 

Isolate power. Check safe mounting surfaces, mains access, cellular signal and cable routes clear of fans, the evaporator and shelving.

4. Mount the SCS 600 Controller

Mount the Controller horizontally in the designated control panel, away from drips and condensation. Fit the clips, cable seals and rear cover, then secure the wiring.  Full detail: Mount an SCS 500 or 600 Controller in a commercial refrigeration cabinet

5. Mount the Gateway

Position the Gateway high in the cabinet, clear of metal obstructions and out of customer view. Secure it, route the AC lead safely and keep its QR code accessible. 6. Power on and check the Controller

Restore power and confirm the SCS 600 completes its start-up sequence and displays the cabinet temperature. Pairing requires Controller firmware 4020 or later. Full detail: Startup sequence for the SCS 500 & 600 Controller

7. Commission the SCS 600 in Field app 

Connect to the correct Controller. Load the approved parameter file, then enter the cooler owner, Asset ID, cooler model and install address. Check the required fields are complete. Full detail: Set up or commission an SCS Controller using Field app  

8. Pair the Controller with the Gateway

While connected to the Controller, enter or scan the Gateway serial number and save it. Disconnect from the Controller, then power on the Gateway.  Full detail: Pair the SCS Controller with a Gateway

 9. Verify connectivity and data

In Field app, connect to the Gateway and refresh the checklist. Confirm Mobile Network, Cloud connection, Cooler Tracking and Cooler Data Upload pass. 10. Complete handover

Record the Asset ID and Controller and Gateway serial numbers, capture required photos, secure all cables and panels, and confirm the cooler is operating with the site contact.
